The City of Forney Finance Department was recently awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the 2018-2019 FY budget. This marks the 11th consecutive year that the Finance Department has received such recognition from the GFOA.
The distinguished budget award represents a significant achievement and reflects the commitment of the Finance staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the award, the Finance Department had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines that included a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. Budgets are then only recognized with the award after they have been rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories.
