On the 1st day of the 2019 FISD School Year, many local retired teachers met at “Alfredo’s Steak House and Sea Food” for the 2nd installment of what is to be an “annual event.” Breakfast was served to approximately 25 former teachers, and all were women; however, it is hoped that in coming years the men will not be afraid to join in!
The teachers who began this new tradition last year were Everell Eckeberger, Debra Beam, and Theresa Hale, hoping to pique the interest of all retirees and to convince them to not “sleep in” on the first day of school but to join the group for breakfast!! And it happened and was a huge success. It was decided then, to meet again for lunch in the fall, for a tea in the spring, and for breakfast again on the first day of school.
The group assembled, checked in, ordered, ate, ate some more, and then came to attention as Everell Eckeberger announced what they were going to do next time….. which will be on November 13th at Prayer Lavender Garden (the Farm) in Rockwall to eat and drink.
