After a successful trip to the State 7-on-7 Tournament in College Station, TX last month, it appears the North Forney football program may be back on track. The North Forney Fly Boyz, as they were known in 7-on-7, qualified for the state tournament for the first time in the program’s history and made it to the Division 1 (6A/5A) championship bracket, finishing a very respectable 2-2 against some of the best 6A schools in the state. According to new Assistant Head Coach Eric Luster, North Forney was the only 5A school represented in the championship bracket.

Getting to the state playoffs was no easy task for North Forney. After defeating Wylie East, Richardson Pearce and Rowlett, each win by no less than 14 points, the Fly Boyz faced Woodrow Wilson in the finals of the State Qualifying Tournament.

“Woodrow has some freaks. They anticipate well on defense and react so quickly. We knew that (quarterback Jacob) Acuna had to be good. He had to be on time,” said Coach Luster.
