On Saturday May 4th, the 2019 Forney ISD District Art Show was held at the Forney Learning Academy. The new facility and larger venue allowed FISD the opportunity to showcase the outstanding artistic creations of students enrolled in the District’s art programs. The additional teachers added to the Elementary campuses further strengthened FISD’s commitment to providing vertically aligned Art education throughout the K-12 curriculum. Visitors to the Forney Learning Academy were treated to refreshments and live piano accompaniment that enhanced the experience for all. But the true stars of the day were the student artists. The large audience in attendance included students and family members, administrators and teachers, as well as members of the entire Forney community all of whom came to support the students and appreciate their artistic passion.
Art programs from all 9 Elementary campuses were well represented at the event. Elementary art teachers are Melissa Townsend (Henderson), Beth Mason (Rhea), Margaret Pearce (Claybon), Viviana McKay (Johnson), Blake Tilton (Smith), Brittany Thompson (Lewis), Kaitlyn Ecklund (Criswell) Ricardo Escochea (Criswell), and Ashley McCuiston (Crosby). Students worked in a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, and sculpture. The vibrant colors and intricate designs are a testament to the skills of all the blossoming artists and their teachers’ dedication to their craft. The excitement on the faces of these young artists as they searched for and then posed with their creations was truly a sight to behold. The pride of their friends and family members was unmistakable. It is safe to say that the future of the Arts in Forney is in good hands.
