On a beautiful, sunny day in Forney last Friday, March 22, Forney officially broke ground on the new Goodyear Distribution Facility to be located at Gateway Boulevard and US Highway
80. The groundbreaking, hosted by the City of Forney Economic Development Corporation, was well-attended by many who were instrumental in bringing this business to Forney. Attendees were privileged to listen in on enthusiastic words from many of our local officials, including Mayor Rick Wilson, Mayor Pro-tem Mary Penn, and Council Members Mike Thomas, Shaun Myers, and Kevin Moon. Also in attendance were State Representative Keith Bell, a representative from Senator Bob Hall’s office, Kaufman County Commissioner Skeet Phillips, representatives of the Forney ISD and City of Forney staff, and staff from Hillwood Properties and Petro-Hunt, LLC.
This new development was made possible by the hard work and partnership of all involved. Todd Finley, Vice President of Development at Hillwood Properties, said, “We are excited about the opportunity to invest in Forney. City staff, City Council, Planning & Zoning, EDC, school board, and state officials have all been instrumental in the success of this project.”
