My mother-in-law Nicki likes to say, “Well, I don’t feel old ‘til I look in the mirror.”
She’s 72 years young.
An interesting slideshow plays out in my mind’s eye when I recount time spent as the captive audience of Mr. Mirror. In chronological order, the slideshow presents images from the time I was an infant to the time I was a teenager. From the wonder and innocence of being completely taken aback that the being in the mirror copies my every move, to completely refusing to sit captive as Mr. Mirror’s audience. Refusing because I can’t see a thing I like about the way I look. Refusing because I’m so disgusted with what Mr. Mirror continually tells me. Mr. Mirror can be harsh. In truth, he can be brazenly unkind.
