When we stop and give it some thought, the reason that late winter is prime time for catching trophy size fish of several species is pretty obvious, the females are putting on weight every day in the form of growing egg sacs. A ‘spawned out’ striper, crappie, white bass or catfish caught post spawn will be a substantial amount lighter than before the spawn. What does this mean to the fisherman? Now, right now, is the time to catch the fish of your lifetime!
