Having made history with their first appearance in the regional basketball tournament, the North Forney Lady Falcons knew they had their work cut out for them. They were facing a team, Frisco Liberty, that was three years removed from a trip to state. The Redhawks, 30-10 overall and 17-1 in 5A District 9, had experience in the regional tournament, playing there last year, and were riding a 12-game winning streak. They were here on the strength of their three playoff wins, having won by 28, 20 and 10 points.
“Everyone is good. This time of year, everyone you play is good,” head coach Donald Fleming confessed before the game.
Everyone is good, including the Lady Falcons. North Forney went into the game with a 6-game winning streak of their own, including a thrilling 54-47 victory in round three, against Texas High from Texarkana, the previous Tuesday. The Lady Falcons would see their run end against Liberty, 39-25.
