This week’s article will attempt to “tie up some loose ends” with bits and pieces of information and photos concerning the interesting and historical life of Sue Sharp Adams, who lived many years on Bois d’Arc Street across from what was then Forney High School and who, for many years, was a Rural Mail Carrier. This is the 3rd of three parts. Again, thanks to Mary Adams Whitehurst, who has compiled most of this information and helped me to form it into a story.
Joseph Pinckney was the Great-Grandfather of Mrs. Adams. He sometimes carried the mail on horseback.
Not only were her daughters schoolmates of mine, the middle one (Mary) was a fellow teacher when she taught Homemaking and sponsored several student groups at FHS in the 1970s. In fact, we chaperoned a few events together.
And I, like most young folks in Forney during my high school days, was a welcome guest in the Adams house and as a vehicle passenger for various school/community trips.
