I was fortunate enough to help coach Tony the first year I taught at the High School in Forney (1973—1974), to know him as a friend for many years after he finished college, and to be a fellow teacher with him for a long time in FISD.
I can still see that GRIN on his face and hear the booming voice that would always reach out to me with, “Hey, Coach Themer, what’s going on, and how are you doing? How is your family? What do you think about………?” And then, if he was not busy taking tickets or working with students or heading off to a Church Meeting, we would, usually, stand for a minute or fifteen and “solve the problems of the world.” And, yes, we would nearly always find enough time to “joke around.”
His Lord and Savior, his Family, his Job, his Friends, his Country were mighty important to him, and he was not afraid to say so in words or actions.
Mr. Jackson passed from this earthly life into Heavenly joy in October of 2015, and although time has passed quickly, not a day goes by that he is not missed and remembered. Though other folks have taken over some of his jobs and positions, no one has really taken his place and most likely never will!
