The journey to Natchitoches, Louisiana is an easy three and a half hour road trip from Forney. Taking I-20 to Shreveport and turning south on I-49 will find Natchitoches, the oldest town in Louisiana, founded in 1714.
December is a great time to discover Natchitoches. This small town has been celebrating the Christmas season with a festival for 92 years. Each evening starting December 1, visitors are greeted by over 300,000 strings of Christmas lights along the Historic Front Street District that includes the Cane River and the Church Street Bridge.
Making the trip in a single day by leaving early and getting home late is possible, though we recommend making the trip at least an over-nighter.
