Last Winter, when our oldest son TJ told us he was marrying the love of his life Sarah on November 10th near Austin, we said: “well maybe the weather will be ok.” After all, November in Central Texas is a total mystery. It could be sunshine and shirt sleeves and it could be Leon Lett sliding on the ice knocking the football into the end zone for the Cowboys most famous Thanksgiving Day loss. Fortunately, the weather fell somewhere in between but the wedding was perfect.
The matrimonial weekend started when we set up the Leonard Family HQ in Pflugerville, where we rented a huge six-bedroom house big enough for twenty people near downtown. Then, family began to arrive from California, Tennessee, South Texas, the DFW Metroplex and of course, Forney.
It didn’t look good at first. It was cold and really rainy but by Friday morning the rain broke. TJ had planned a golf tournament among his best man, groomsmen and his dad at Teravista golf course for months. Luckily the rain let up just before the 8am tee time. However, the wet cold didn’t let up. I had a great time visiting with TJ’s friends who were so loyal they would brave the cold to play golf with him.
