Forney ISD held the 2nd Annual STEAMfest event on Monday, August. 13, 4:30-8:30 p.m. at North Forney High School. The event attracted more than three thousand children and adults from Forney and surrounding communities. The free, fun-filled community event featured more than 50 hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) exhibits, including slime time, a water balloon slingshot, eSports, a STEM Mobile Lab, kinetic sand, Lego creations, face painting, and more.
Local emergency services teams also held interactive opportunities as children were in awe of watching the Careflite and DPS helicopters land. Many of the participants enjoyed being able to climb aboard, not only the helicopters, but fire trucks and squad cars to see what it looks like behind the controls. “It was really cool seeing the helicopter land right in front of me and I was able to climb on board,” Forney ISD 7th grade student Ty Harlan said.
