Body

On Sunday July 1st, just before this great nation celebrated its 242nd Birthday, Texas State Senator Bob Hall made a visit to Forney for a very special occasion. Earlier this year, long time Forney resident Robert Jefferson “Jeff” Dobbs celebrated his 99th Birthday. This made him the oldest living WW II veteran in Kaufman County. (It may be that he is the oldest living WW II veteran in North Texas, but I don’t have the resources to confirm this thought.) Senator Hall made a presentation to Mr. Dobbs while recognizing several other WW II Veterans as well.

They call that generation of Americans “The Greatest Generation”. Without a doubt, this is a title well earned. They lived through the Great Depression. They lived through, fought and won World War II. They then helped build this country through the post-war effort. The impact of this generation will be felt for many generations to come, not only here in America, but across the world. They truly changed the world. Mr. Dobbs lived it and is still here to tell about it. We celebrate him and his life here in this paper.
