North Baseball made a statement in their district opener Tuesday night as they handled Wylie East with ease, 6-1. The Falcons are out to prove that last season’s Cinderella was no fluke, and that they will be a force to be reckoned with in District 15-5A. With their win on Tuesday, North Forney is now 8-2 in their last 10 games, including tournament play.
Per usual, the pitching gave the ballclub a chance to win with a pitcher in Blake Reece who did not have his best stuff, yet coming up big when it mattered most and putting on a gutsy six-inning performance allowing only the one unearned run in the first inning. Reece also struck out six, forfeiting the lone walk, while giving up seven hits to the Raiders. He was able to evade trouble in the 5th and 6th inning, stranding runners at 1st and second base in both instances.
