Bible book Matt: chapter 5 gives the Sermon on the Mount. The beatitudes are the subject as Jesus was teaching about the future of the Church and the responsibilities of all the members. The law Moses gave to the Children of Israel was firm commandments, but being human same as the Israelites we cannot keep the law any more than they could. Today, instead of offering sacrifices of animals and food, we sacrifice ourselves to the control of the Holy Spirit to worship and lead others to Jesus for forgiveness of sin and eternal salvation. The only gift we have to give GOD is ourselves in obedience. We almost always fall short of that every day, because in these human bodies we have no power at all. The power is in the Holy Spirit GOD gives at point of salvation.
