Annie Faustine Hartness Penny passed away into the presence of her Lord and Savior on the morning of February 8, 2018 in Forney surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 25, 1918 at the home of her parents, Christopher Henry Belton and Martha Elizabeth Buchanan Hartness, in Westminster, Texas. Faustine graduated from Westminster High School in 1937 and married the love of her life, Malcome O’Night Penny of Blue Ridge, Texas on December 16, 1939. The young couple soon moved to Ft. Worth, where Faustine worked in an aircraft parts machine shop during World War II. Following the war, she and Malcome moved to Van Alstyne, Texas and, together, they operated a clothes laundry. In 1954 they moved to Forney with their three sons to own and operate a Western Auto Store. Once again, Faustine shared the business workload and responsibilities with her husband at a time when women were often expected to remain at home. In 1977, Faustine and Malcome semiretired from the daily operation of “The Store” and spent much of their time travelling and enjoying family, friends, and life together. Following Malcome’s death in 2005, Faustine remained active until moving into Three Forks Senior Living. Faustine was a strong Christian and she had faithful memberships in several Baptist churches since the age of 12. She was an active and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Forney since 1954 where her wonderful and generous spirit was a welcome testament to how to follow the example set forth by Jesus. She was also involved in many civic and school-related events and took a leadership role in the formation and operation of the Layden Senior Citizen Center. Faustine was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Malcome Penny, parents, Belton and Martha Elizabeth (Betha) Hartness, and brother Belton Benard Hartness.
