Shirley Jean Nix DeMasters, of Forney, passed from this earth into the presence of her Savior on Feb. 3, 2018 surrounded by her devoted family who has been at her side as her health declined. Shirley was born in Ables Springs, Texas on November 4, 1941. She grew up in the Terrell area having graduated from Terrell High School. Shirley spent most of her adult life in Forney, Texas and she was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church in Forney where her kind spirit and caring personality established her ability of always having a servant’s heart to help others. Above all, Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren who were her whole world. After almost 60 years of wonderful times together in their marriage, Shirley and her husband Edwin Earl DeMasters, Sr. were blessed with a large, loving family that will continue their legacy of unconditional love to each other and all who meet them. Along with her beloved husband, Edwin, Shirley is survived by her daughter, Vicki DeMasters McGee; her son, Eddie DeMasters and wife, Faye; five granddaughters: Dana Sneed and husband Damen, Danielle Southard and husband Sam, Jennifer Scott and husband Jason, Melissa Holland and husband Zach, Mindi Blake and husband Adam; 14 great grandchildren: Tori, Baylee, Rylee, and Jaymi Sneed, Megan Turner, Kynsli, Brynli, and Tony Southard, Jacob, Jason Elliot, Jack and Jameson Scott, Eli Holland and Addie Blake as well as several other extended family and a host of friends who loved her deeply. She will be missed by many and memories of her will last forever. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell.
