Israel had been brought back from exile and finally finished rebuilding the temple in 516 BC. GOD made one last call for them to return to Him before the coming of Jesus Christ. Once again Israel had become corrupt and had turned away from GOD. Some were worshiping other gods, some were offering their “sick” animals on the altar some were robbing the people in exchanging their money to temple money for their offering. About every type of sin was being committed by the Jews. In the book of Malachi (the last book of the Old Testament), GOD made a last call for Israel to turn back to Him and He would open the windows of Heaven and pour out blessings upon the nation of Israel. GOD sent prophets to the leaders but they would not hear. Between His last call and the coming of Jesus Christ was about 400 years. During that time GOD was silent.
