I made a statement before that Solomon had 300 wives and 700 concubines. Actually it was the other way around. He had 700 wives and 300 concubines. The bible says that Solomon loved many strange women and allowed them to turn his heart away from GOD and go after the gods of these women. GOD was displeased with Solomon and told him he would take the kingdom of Israel away from his son and divide Israel into two kingdoms. Solomon reigned forty years over Israel and when he died his son Rehoboam was made king in his place.
In addition to his wives Solomon had several thousand slaves in his house. Each tribe of Israel furnished food for his household for one month out of the year while he lived. When Rehoboam was made king he asked the advice of the older men that served Solomon.
