THE HISTORY OF ISRAEL
Body

GOD granted Israel their request for a king. GOD chose Saul, a tall and handsome man to show them that even the most handsome man or the smartest man or the man highest on the social scale cannot govern the people without GOD’S help. Saul knew that because he always wanted Samuel with him when he went into battle. In that time, only a priest of a prophet could offer sacrifices to GOD where He would accept them. One day when Saul was preparing for battle and Samuel delayed coming to him, he offered sacrifices to GOD himself.

When Samuel came and saw what Saul had done, he was angry because he knew GOD was angry with Saul and had rejected him from being king. Another time when Samuel told Saul that GOD was sending him with his army to a certain city to destroy all the people and all they had which included their lives, their belongings, their livestock and keep nothing. Once again Saul disobeyed GOD and kept the king alive and the best of the animals. GOD was very angry with Saul and said him or his family would not continue in the royal line. GOD sent Samuel to anoint another king to take Saul’s place which happened to be David, the man after GOD’S on heart.
