Jericho was taken by GOD’S instructions, however one of Israel’s soldiers named Achan saw a beautiful robe, a bag of silver and a block of gold and took them to his tent and buried them under the floor. He must have thought no one saw him and later he would dig them up and be rich. That was mistake number one. Mistake number two was when Joshua sent men to Ai, a small town nearby, and told them to bring back a report of what was needed to defeat them. The men must have implied to Joshua that he would not need to bother GOD this time, just send a few men and we will wipe them out but when they came to Ai, they ran from the soldiers of Ai and lost thirty six of their own men. It appears nothing has changed much we often do the same thing thinking we only need GOD for the big stuff.
