After years of strife, fighting with Moses, and rebelling against GOD, Israel is now ready to enter the land of Canaan. The second bunch of spies have spied out the land and once again reported how good the land was. This time the people were ready to follow Joshua and go take the land. They were prepared to follow the plan that GOD laid out to take the first city of Jericho. The plan was not anything like a war general would make, but they had to follow GOD or they would not succeed. I had the privilege of visiting the Holy Land in the mid nineties and saw where they had dug down and exposed those walls. I couldn’t believe it, the walls were upright down in the ground. The walls did not fall over they fell straight down in the ground. It seems the soldiers ran into the city on level ground. You see, when we follow GOD’S plan everything works right.
It is noteworthy to explain that when the spies were in the city of Jericho a “scarlet” woman named Rahab hid the spies on the condition that she and her household would be saved. The spies agreed and tied a piece of scarlet thread in her window. Her house was built on the wall and a strange thing happened. The walls where her house was did not fall down. (What does GOD have to do to get us to trust Him)?
