For the first time in North Forney’s history, the Pride of Falcon Nation band won Grand Champion at the 1st annual Royse City Marching Showcase. The band was also awarded a first division, first place in Prelims, Outstanding Drum Majors, and Outstanding Percussion.
Marching competition days are long and grueling endeavors. It started at 8:30 in the morning, unloading the trailer from the previous night’s game. Then the students did a one hour run through in the stadium, ate lunch, got dressed, went through inspection, then headed to Royse City. Once there, the students went to warm up and performed in preliminary competition, in 90° heat, wearing the wool pants and jackets that are their uniform. After prelims, students moved to the buses to pack instruments and get out of their bibbers and jackets The students were very excited when they were announced as first place going into Finals competition.
