This morning I am really missing my mom. In spite of the frenzy of disaster relief after three hurricanes, I have been aware that October will be one year since my mom no longer had to say: “I can only imagine.”

In July I visited my dad and asked if I could dig up one of my mom’s huge aloe vera plants. She has a huge grove of them and the biggest ones are about three feet across. Dad was glad to let me.
