The Forney City Council held a lengthy meeting on Sept. 19 and recognized PD and IT employees, adopted the proposed lower tax rate and the 2018 budget (with changes due to Mr. Fisher's severance), heard from the public for almost 1 hour, granted the FISD an extension, approved upgrades to Lovers Lane, and more.
Police Chief Sherwin started by recognizing PD employees for their work during Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. First was Det. Sandra Rankin; Sherwin stated she was a member of the TX Air National Guard, for which she was called for a planned month-long deployment providing shelter management in Nacogdoches. Forney PD recently gave her a commendation.
