Last Tuesday at 6:00 am, I got on a Southwest Airlines jet to Liberty International Airport in New Jersey to embark on the baseball road trip of a lifetime with my oldest son, TJ. Our first stop was Yankee Stadium. I had been there before several years ago and had a great plan.
The first time I attended the new version of “The House That Ruth Built”, I was on the subway with several senior citzens who were all Yankeed up for the game. When they learned I was going they said: “Come with us to gate 4. Seniors can get $5 tickets two hours before the game.” When I told them I wasn’t 60 yet (I am now), they said,
“You’ve got gray hair and you’re with us.” They said, “Besides that we can buy one guest pass, so we’ve got you covered....FORGET ABOUT IT.” So that’s how I sat in a $100 for five bucks and cheered on the Texas Rangers with four rows of Yankee fans and had the time of my life.
