FORNEY, TX— The Forney Fire Department (FFD) was recently notified that the department would be receiving a three-year grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency that would provide a substantial amount of funding that would allow the department to hire an additional six firefighters.
The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grants program was created to provide funding directly to fire departments to help them increase or maintain the number of trained firefighters. The program also aims to enhance the local fire departments’ abilities to comply with staffing, in response to standards established by the National Fire Protection Association.
