It has been a great year for gardening. This spring, not only did Lori and I put in a big vegetable garden at our pecan orchard, we also did a lot of landscaping at our house. It has rained at least once a week for most of the time since we did all of that planting. The result has been that the landscaping looks really good and our vegetable garden has produced a lot of food. Every Saturday we go out to the garden and pick for a couple of hours filling half bushel and peck size wooden baskets with squash, zucchini, okra, and eggplant.

We pick bell peppers, banana peppers and jalepenos. But most of our time is spent picking home-grown tomatoes: big red ones, small sweet ones, pear-shaped yellow ones and medium sized ones. On Sundays when I am home I help Lori load them into her van and we take them to church where we set them up in the foyer and let members take all of the vegetables they want. When I am working out of town, Lori does it by herself.
