This weekend I preached at Canyon Lake near New Braunfels, Texas. A day early, I drove to Floresville to visit my dad and I intended to spend the night in a recliner in his living room. But as soon as I settled in to try to sleep a wave of emotion took me. That was the room my mom died in last October. It was too much. So I apologized to my dad and made a reservation at the Holiday Inn a couple of miles away. I got checked in and got a shower, then settled in to watch a little TV before going to sleep. But the TV didn’t work. I called the front desk and the night clerk said she would call her manager. She never called back. That was OK because it wasn’t long before I fell asleep, but not for long.
