This Friday, July 7, Dallas will observe an anniversary all decent people wish had never been necessary to mark or observe. On the night of July 7, 2016, shots rang out during a rally in downtown Dallas that was being held to denounce excessive force by police. A sniper had targeted police officers in an well-prepared ambush. Five Dallas officers fell in a terrible few minutes, and seven more, including one from Forney, were injured, along with two civilians who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
