The City of Forney does a lot of things right. It provides an easy way to access agendas and minutes of City Council meetings, and it keeps citizens updated on news relating to city activities. It even has a link to material for new residents. But one of the best transparency measures the city offers is its annual series of budget workshops.
The budgeting process for the City of Forney begins in advance of each new fiscal year, beginning in late spring and continuing during the summer months until the City Council approves a final budget. The city’s fiscal year begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30. Like regular and special City Council meetings, City Council budget workshops are open to the public, and the notices of each budget workshop are posted on the outside bulletin board at City Hall no less than 72 hours before the workshop
