KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas-—During May 22- June 4, 2017 the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Texas Department of Transportation’s Click It or Ticket – Seat Belt Enforcement Program.
During this enforcement period, 197 citations were issued for seat belt enforcement and 36 citations were issued for child safety restraint violations. Two locations within Kaufman County were surveyed before and after the enforcement intitiative. One hundred fifty cars were observed at each location by a deputy. At the first location during the pre-enforcement initiative, 113 vehicles were observed to be in compliance; post enforcment 136 vehicles were observed to be in compliance.
