The second annual Forney BBQ Cookoff kicked off Friday and continued through Saturday with activities concentrated near the soccer pavilion in Forney Community Park.
But the start of the twoday cookoff was dampened when a band of heavy rain moved into the Forney area with lightning and low clouds that obscured much of the available sunlight. The storm, which moved across Dallas County first, moved into Forney between 7:00 and 7:30 p. m. and the area was still getting drenched well after 9:00 p. m.
