Lori grew up in California, the youngest in the family. She had three brothers and her sister, Linda, was the oldest. We met at Abilene Christian College when she was only 17 and I was 19. We dated for a couple of months and it became clear that it was more than a casual relationship. So a family meeting took place back in California and it was decided that Lori’s two older brothers, Randy and Robert, would drive to Abilene for a few days to check out this Texas boy that their little sister was keeping steady company with. It turned out to be a great time when Lori’s brothers and we became friends from the very start. When they got back home to California they gave Lori’s mom and dad a good report: There was no need for alarm, I was an ok guy.
