Encouraging police to hire vets is a good idea

U. S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and U. S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) are co-sponsors of of a bill that would provide an incentive to police departments all across the country to hire veterans.
The bill, known as the American Law Enforcement Heroes Act, was passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee last week. It would prioritize the U.S. Department of Justice COPS grant applications of law enforcement agencies who use that funding to hire military veterans.
