As GOD continued His plan to redeem mankind, He chose Jacob to be the father of twelve sons who are to be the beginning of the twelve tribes of Israel. GOD again appeared to Jacob and told him to move back to Bethel and live there. Jacob told all in his household to put away their strange gods and clean themselves up to go to where Jacob met GOD on the way to Laban’s home. Jacob called
Bethel “GOD’S House.” In the move back to Bethel, GOD brought fear on all the kingdoms and nations that Jacob and his household passed by so they would not attack them. It would probably be safe to say that Jacob was a little sneaky and underhanded at times.
