GOING THROUGH THE BIBLE Genesis, Chapters 31, 32 and 33 (paraphrased)
Body

There was unrest in Laban’s house because Jacob had become very wealthy while working for Laban. He had many herds of livestock and servants to tend them. He had already talked to Laban to let him go back to his homeland like GOD had told him to do. Laban knew that GOD had blessed him because of Jacob so Laban did not want Jacob to leave. Jacob decided to gather up his estate and leave anyway. After Laban discovered Jacob was gone he chased after him and caught him in the hill country of Gilead, but when Laban saw that GOD was on Jacob’s side and protecting him, he decided to make a covenant with Jacob and put a marker between his country and Jacob’s country (Canaan) so Laban went back to his home and Jacob went on toward Canaan.
