I do not believe Esau was a rebel against GOD and man, but he seemed to rely upon his own strength and knowledge to make his way through life. Jacob believed GOD and knew the value of the birthright of the firstborn son and GOD’S blessing on him. I believe GOD chooses people to carry out His work who will believe and obey Him when He directs them by His word and Holy Spirit.
Jacob was on his way to Laban’s home and at the end of the day he found a place to sleep. GOD came to him in a dream and again confirmed His covenant with him as He did to Abraham and Isaac before. Here we should remember that GOD’S ways and thoughts are nothing like ours.
