Rachel Bowen, a middle school Math teacher and volleyball, basketball, and track coach at Warren Middle School, has been given the prestigious Honored National Teaching Award for September 2025. As part of her honor, she received a $5,000 cash award and was featured on Inspiring Teachers: The Honored Podcast.
Coach Bowen is passionate about cultivating an empowering environment where every student can succeed. By giving her students a space to grow and take accountability for their work, they are learning to conquer any challenge thrown their way.
Whether it’s an academic or personal challenge, she teaches her students that great things come from hard work and that struggling with something doesn’t mean we need to give up.
Coach Bowen was nominated for the Honored Award by her former student, Ethan. The lessons he learned during his 8thgrade Math class have continued to shape his academic and personal success. From honesty to accountability to proactively completing assignments, Coach Bowen is equipping students with vital skills that they will carry into the future. In Ethan’s words, “I’ve done well in math in my past years. But it wasn’t really until Coach Bowen’s class that I was able to actually wrap my head around it.”
