On Thursday, June 5, 2025, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the upcoming renovations to the Kaufman County Courthouse in downtown Kaufman. It was an exciting morning, with many in attendance. Among those were Commissioners from each precinct, elected officials, business partners and community members. After the ceremony, guests attended a “Meet and Greet” session at Moritas Brunch.
The renovation efforts are being led by Kitchell and McGough Construction. When completed, the newly renovated courthouse will hold 15 different county offices, according to County Judge Jakie Allen. This renovation also comes with no expense to taxpayers. The current Justice Center will still serve the majority of court proceedings, as well as housing some county offices.
