In a proud and heartwarming ceremony held at Talty City Hall on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the City of Talty officially welcomed its newest officer: K-9 Kyle. The highly trained police dog was sworn in alongside his handler, Sergeant Darrell Haley, marking a significant milestone for the city’s ongoing commitment to public safety.

Surrounded by city officials, police officers, and community members, K-9 Kyle donned his official badge as he placed a paw on a copy of the police department’s oath—assisted, of “Kyle isn’t just a dog—he’s an officer, a partner, and a protector,” said Chief of Police Delawrence Gilbert. “We are honored to have him join our team and stand beside Sergeant Haley as they serve the residents of Talty.”

K-9 Kyle, a Dutch Shepherd trained in narcotics detection, tracking, and patrol apprehension, completed extensive training before being assigned to Talty PD. Sergeant Haley.

“It’s an honor to be paired with such a dedicated and skilled K-9,” said Sgt. Haley. “Kyle and I are ready to hit the streets and do our part to keep Talty safe.”

K-9 Kyle’s addition marks a new chapter for the Talty Police Department, further enhancing its ability to serve and protect. With his sharp instincts and strong work ethic, this four-legged officer is already making his mark on the force.
