The Forney Chamber of Commerce, Forney Legacy Project, and Forney Education Foundation, with the support of local businesses and community members, successfully provided full Thanksgiving meals and supplemental groceries to 250 families in need.
Volunteers from across the community gathered behind Kroger Marketplace at 500 Marketplace Blvd, Forney, TX 75126, to pack and distribute holiday meal boxes. Each box in- cluded a turkey, turkey pan, sides such as mashed potatoes, stuffing, macaroni & cheese, gravy, green beans, corn, yams, cranberry sauce, rolls, and additional snacks to ensure families had a complete Thanksgiving meal and more!
“The generosity of our community didn’t just fill boxes—it filled homes with warmth, dignity, and relief,” said Lisa Cowan, Founder of The Forney Legacy Project. “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, and organized this effort. This event demonstrates the power of unity and kindness in Forney,” added Meg Adams, President & CEO of the Forney Chamber of Commerce.
Any food not picked up by families was donated to the Forney Food Pantry.
“The collaborative effort between our organizations and community partners is inspiring,” said Justin Eatherly, Executive Director of the Forney Education Foundation. “It is wonderful to see so many people come together to bring hope and joy during the holiday season.”
Jessica Browning, Chairperson of the initiative, added, “This project was a true testament to what we can achieve when we work together. Every volunteer, donor, and supporter played an important role in this success.”
Volunteers from across the community played a vital role in making the Annual Turkey Drive a success. Students and supporters from Forney ISD, including NFHS North Star Theatre Fans, North Forney High School Girls Basketball, Forney High School Girls Basketball, and Forney High School Volleyball teams, helped greet shoppers, organize donations, and pack meal boxes. Local organizations and community groups—including JM Junk Removers, XO Pilates, Element Athletics, North Forney Bullpen Club, North Forney Quarterback Club, Forney Jackrabbit Baseball, Stash’s Table & Fable, Stewart Title Forney, First State Bank of Forney, Save the Time Bookkeeping & Payroll, Stone House Mortgage, Handyman HQ, Pittypat’s Boutique & Gifts, City of Talty, City of Forney, and many individual volunteers—gave their time and hearts to ensure every family received a complete Thanksgiving meal.
