Lady Jackrabbits Headed to Austin to Defend State Softball Title

On Friday, May 24th, Forney High School’s Lady Jackrabbits softball team faced Frisco Reedy in the Class 5A Region II final. The Lady Jackrabbits were motivated to win Friday night’s game, which would earn the team a spot in the UIL State Tournament for the second year in a row.

Enjoying optimal playing conditions for Friday’s game, Forney allowed only a single run for Frisco the entire night, which was in the first inning. The rest of the game was simply a showcase of talent by all Lady Jackrabbits on the field. With a total of eleven runs that caused the game to be called in the sixth inning due to the UIL run rule, the Lady Rabbits were clearly there to play. The second inning was the most productive for Forney’s batters with runs from Roberts, Cross, Holdbrook, Cannon, DesRochers, and Hewitt. And while the following four innings did not boast as many runs scored per inning, they were no less full of action.
