In the time that Judges ruled over the nation of Israel there was a famine in the land of Israel. A Jewish woman named Naomi with her husband and two suns went down to the land of Moab and lived there several years. First Naomi’s husband died and her two sons took wives from the Moab people. One of the wives was named Ruth. Soon Naomi’s two sons also died and left her and her two daughterin- laws. Naomi tried to send the two women back to their homes, but Ruth would not go. She told Naomi that she would follow her where ever she went and Naomi’s people would be her people and Naomi’s GOD would be her GOD. Upon returning to Israel a near kinsman of Naomi’s redeemed Ruth under the Israel’s custom and Ruth became his wife. When they had a son they named him Obed. When Obed had a son they named him Jesse. When Jesse had a son they named him David, king of Israel.
