The significance of Memorial Day is that it honors those Americans who have died while in the military service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. In 1971, President Lyndon Johnson signed into law designating the last Monday in May as Memorial Day, thus giving it federal recognition.
Loretta uses a not too smart “fictional” book hero, who is called “Dash McMahon” and is played by (movie name) Alan Caprison, also played by Channing Tatum in reality, to move the action. I hope I have not confused you as much as I was for a little while as I sorted things out at the movie!
St. Norbert College held its commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 15, at 11 a.m., doors on the college’s De Pere,Wis. campus.
Gilberto Guerra Gonzalez of Forney, Texas, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Guerra Gonzalez was initiated at Fort Hays State University.

Midwestern State University recognized 1,040 honor students for the Spring 2022 semester. The President’s Honor Roll included 426 students, the Provost’s Honor Roll included 284 students and the Dean’s Honor Roll included 330 students.
Volunteering provides various benefits. Some of these rewards include networking with an entirely different group of people. Volunteering also can help a person realize greater happiness by doing selfless acts for others, while they also can help one to realize a new passion. In the future, volunteering with an organization also may help with a student’s job search.
Memorial Day is a bittersweet day on the calendar. Memorial Day is a day to pay homage to the brave men and women who lost their lives defending the United States. However, over time, Memorial Day has evolved into the unofficial beginning of summer.
Working mothers are as busy as ever. A recent survey from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics found that women spend an average of more than two hours per day on household activities like interior cleaning and preparing meals. That additional work can feel especially tiring after a full day’s work at the office. But mothers may have some help right under their noses. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, adolescents can benefit from participating in various chores around the house. The AAP notes that helping out at home teaches kids the importance of contributing to a team while boosting their selfesteem by helping them feel valued and competent. Kids might not jump at the chance to do chores, and some tasks may still be best performed by parents. However, the AAP notes that the following are some age-appropriate tasks for adolescents, the completion of which can help busy moms feel a less overextended.
Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, welcomed 1,971 new initiates from 78 universities during April 2022.

Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide grassroots environmental and community improvement non-profit organization, recently named Kaufman County a Silver Star Affiliate, a designation granted to only 28 of KTB’s nearly 300 affiliates. Silver Star recognition is the second-highest status any community affiliate can achieve.
